The Gilbert Chamber in partnership with the Town of Gilbert's Office of Economic Development, hosted the Red Carpet Economic Development tour this month.
Attendees received an update from Gilbert Town Manager Patrick Banger followed by an Economic Update from Senior Economist Brandtly Thornton of Rounds Consulting Group. Then our attendees boarded the bus for a VIP experience and behind-the-scenes look at leading businesses in our community. The Town of Gilbert's Office of Economic Development team shared about recent developments and plans for further growth of our town.
The Red Carpet Tour included a rolling pass and narrative of new developments as well as onsite walking tours of the below locations:
- A walkabout in the Northwest Growth Area
- The northwest area of Gilbert is one of the most mature areas in the community. For the past 10 years, Gilbert staff has been actively evaluating the population, employment, and development trends in this area. On this walkabout of the Northwest Growth Area Employment Corridor, we explored examples of the data and outreach which suggests that revitalization may be necessary within and beyond this employment corridor.
- Dignity Health Campus
- Dignity Health Mercy Gilbert Medical Center and Phoenix Children's Hospital are undergoing construction of the new Women's and Children's Pavilion on the Mercy Gilbert campus. The state-of-the-art medical facility, designed to care for women and children in the East Valley, is a partnership between Dignity Health, one of the nation's largest health systems, and Phoenix Children's, Arizona's only nationally recognized pediatric hospital. The Women's and Children's Pavilion, which will be 378,000 square feet, will include 24 labor and delivery rooms and 48 post-partum beds operated by Mercy Gilbert which will have the capability to care for high-risk births.
- Warner Commons
- Industrial space is a highly sought-after asset class in Gilbert, which currently has a vacancy rate of less than 1.5%. Attendees learned more about the role of industrial employment in Gilbert and the need for industrial land use as we visited this new business complex under construction and located in the Gilbert Gateway Employment Corridor on the north side of Warner Road between Power and Recker Roads.
